The Expressions of War Exhibit was a powerful way for students to share and celebrate their newly acquired knowledge. I am so proud of the poetic way that students expressed themselves. I hope that you enjoyed the poems, photos and readings.
Students reflected on the unit. Here are a few of their comments.
"There are really no winners in war."
"I never knew there were so many different wars."
"I learned about the Cold War and want to learn more about communism."
"I learned about different perspectives - families, soldiers, and leaders."
" I learned that there are supposed to be rules of war."
"I learned about my family members who were in war."
Students are taking action by creating postcards for military members.
These postcards express gratitude for service and sacrifice.

Here is a short clip of the 5th graders performing "I'm Just A Believer".

We had a great time at the Honolulu Art Academy.
We traveled back in time and experienced life during colonial times.
Thank you to Ms. Butterworth for chaperoning!
